Our Ecological halo programme

What is an Ecological Halo?

Where are the Ecological Halos?

Despite highly urbanised, Takapuna North still hosts important remnant ecosystems that are important habitats for our native wildlife. Our ecological halos are centred around these remnant ecosystems.

We are currently focusing on establishing five halos:

(1) Castor Bay Halo

(2) Milford Halo

(3) Smiths Bush East Halo

(4) Patuone Halo

(5) Pupukemoana Halo

The map on the left shows the geographic locations of the remnant ecosystems and our halos. Most halos are staged so as to allow us with resource allocation in the core areas and to expand into the surrounding areas in the coming years.
