Citizen Science and Data collection

Citizen science is a great way for you to get involved, collaborate and contribute to the important success of Pupuke Birdsong Project’s mission, and also enables our community to gain experience in data collection.

Track
your activity

The mahi of local volunteers is incredibly important to the success of the Pupuke Birdsong Project. In order to monitor what is contributing to successful outcomes, we need to keep track of what volunteers are working on. Please keep us up to date by clicking on the button below and completing the form by the end of each month.

Report rat/possum catches

We use Trap.NZ to manage trapping and baiting data. This allows us to monitor pest abundance across the landscape and assess the progress of the ecological halo programme. Therefore it would be of great help to us if you report your data on our Trap.NZ page.

Trap.NZ tutorial

You must first register for an account on the Trap.NZ website in order to report your data. After account registration, you will be able to add your devices (traps or bait stations) on the map and record catches or bait uptake by using either the Trap.NZ website or the mobile phone app.

You can join your respective halo page by clicking on the below links, or search for Pupuke Birdsong Project in the Trap.NZ network.
